Going back to my roots at Primary Gardens:

Working with Willow – Birdfeeders Saturday 15th October 2016

Course information

This is a taster course organised with Primary Gardens.

The course will cover the following:

  • Brief introduction to the history of willow use in the UK and locally
  • Getting to know the materials
  • Safe working practices
  • Making the feeders!

The course will start at 10 and be completed by 1.oo, there will be tea and coffee served throughout the morning and there is a strong possibility of cake.

Primary is located at 33 Seely Rd, Nottingham NG7.  10 minutes on foot from Nottingham City centre and 30 minutes from Nottingham Train Station.

Cost

The cost for the workshop is £25 per adult, accompanied children (10—16) can attend for the same price with the accompanying adult being charged a reduced rate. Please contact chrisbaxtersbaskets@yahoo.co.uk if you have any questions.

Access

The venue is level access with a ramp to the classroom. There is parking available but the venue is well serviced by public transport, the website link has extensive info about buses. Chris is bi lingual and can teach in English and BSL, she has taught learners of all ages and with a range of impairments, particularly those with sensory impairments. Chris has also taught people for whom English is not a first language. Levels

If you are a complete beginner – this is the course for you. If you’ve made things in willow before this is also the course for you as there will be a choice of feeders that you can make which will have varying levels of skill requirements

The workshop will provide a useful introduction to the materials, tools and techniques used for basket making.
